2023-11-26 SK Rapid vs Blau-Weiß Linz
This report is about the course of my normal match day for a home game of SK Rapid Vienna at the Weststadion in Hütteldorf - AKA Hanappi Stadium aka Allianz Arena.
The football is secondary .... and unfortunately often second-class ;)
Above all, it's the planned meeting with close friends that justifies the cost of this passion, which above all creates passion.
From arrival to departure, I try to capture the mood to preserve the day.
I don't claim to capture the decisive scenes, I leave that to my colleagues on the sidelines with the heavy duty equipment.
Match Report:
Rapid's new head coach, Robert Klauß, started his tenure with a win.
Marco Grüll scored the winning goal for the first home win in the league since August 5. The win meant Rapid overtook city rivals Austria Vienna and are now in seventh place.
Rapid started well, with Matthias Seidl, Guido Burgstaller and Leopold Querfeld testing the visitors' goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid in the opening minutes, but almost traditionally they almost fell behind shortly before the break.
After an hour, it was Grüll who secured Rapid the three points with a shot from the edge of the box that deflected past Schmid and into the net.
Not a pretty game, but at the moment only the points count.
